The Warangal District administration identifies Orugallu as an earlier name of Warangal and describes the city as a capital of the Kakatiya rulers. It dates the fort’s construction to the 13th century, in the reign of Ganapati Deva.

This is context for the place. It does not establish the age, identity, material or original location of any individual object in these photographs.

The collection includes individual carvings, architectural assemblies and wider site views. A group of fragments photographed together is kept distinct from a securely matched set of views of one object.
